Become a Certified Nursing Assistant
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are essential members of the healthcare team, providing patient care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and home care settings. Today's CNA care team members provide a wide range of essential patient care services, including assisting with meals, helping patients eat, making beds, supporting activities of daily living, monitoring patient needs, and delivering compassionate, hands-on care.
Nursing Assistant (CNA-I) Training at HCC
Prepare for a rewarding career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA-I). Learn from experienced nursing educators who are dedicated to student success. HCC partners with local long-term care facilities, healthcare organizations, and employers to provide students with valuable training experiences and opportunities to enter the healthcare workforce.
HCC’s Maryland Board of Nursing-approved CNA-I training program prepares students for certification and entry into the healthcare workforce. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to pursue certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA-I) and begin providing essential patient care in a variety of healthcare settings.
HCC's CNA-I program is offered in a hybrid format, combining online learning with hands-on practice in a skills lab under the supervision of experienced nursing instructors. After completing the classroom and lab components, students gain real-world experience through 40 hours of supervised clinical training in a healthcare setting.
Students must register for both the Theory (XH-651) and Skills (XH-652) courses. The program consists of 145 total hours, including 100 hours of classroom instruction and 45 hours of clinical training. Upon successful completion, students earn 14.5 CEUs and are eligible to receive a digital badge.
