Meet Your 2026–2027 SGA

From tabling at the annual Summer Bash event to showcasing essential on-campus resources on social media, Howard Community College’s (HCC) 2026–2027 Student Government Association (SGA) is already making waves. This year’s SGA brings together a diverse group with various academic interests and personal experiences, united by a common goal: empowering students and fostering a stronger, more connected campus community.
Get to know your SGA President, Vice President, Secretary, and Club Liaison—and learn how they plan to make an impact on campus and represent HCC’s students.
What are you studying at HCC?
Landzemo Seghanka, SGA President: I am studying computer engineering. I have always loved math since I was a kid, and I wanted to learn how computers, electronics, and software work together. My goal is to use these skills to design and build technology that solves real-world problems.
Guy Alexandre Kamdem, SGA Vice President: I am also studying computer engineering, but I want to go beyond just programming by understanding how computers work on the hardware side. My goal is to become a hardware engineer, where I can design and develop the physical components and systems that make technology work.
Miora Arintsoa, SGA Secretary: I chose nursing because working in the healthcare industry has been my dream since I was young. That purpose became deeply personal after I lost two of my family members, which made me realize how vital it is to truly understand the healthcare system—not just to treat patients, but to guide and support families.
Nelly Nguyen, SGA Club Liaison: I am studying social sciences because I’m interested in understanding people, communities and how societies work. I want to learn more about human behavior and social issues so I can help people and make a positive impact in my community.
What do you like most about HCC?
Miora: What I appreciate most about HCC is how incredibly welcoming and inclusive the environment is. As a non-native English speaker, I have never felt left out here. The campus is exceptionally diverse, with a thriving population of international students from all over the world, which has helped me find my place within different sub-communities.
Nelly: Everyone is very welcoming and supportive, which makes me feel comfortable and connected to the campus community. I also enjoy meeting different people and being in an environment where I can grow, get involved and build connections.
What inspired you to run for SGA?
Landzemo: I was inspired by my interactions with the people on campus and learning about different on-campus organizations.
What are some of your goals in your SGA leadership position?
Landzemo: My goal for the SGA is to connect students to the resources and organizations they need to succeed.
How will you measure success?
Guy: I will measure success in two key ways: student engagement and tangible impact. First, success means seeing higher participation in HCC events, advocacy and SGA meetings, and showing that students feel heard. Second, it's about follow-through—measuring if we delivered on our initiatives, whether that's expanding campus resources, improving student mental health access, or supporting diverse campus programs. If students know who we are, feel represented, and see real improvements on campus, then SGA has succeeded.
What are you most looking forward to this semester/year?
Guy: There’s a lot of energy on campus this semester. I’m looking forward to connecting with more students, making sure their voices are heard, and helping to create an environment where everyone feels supported.
How do you plan to improve student life and opportunities on campus?
Nelly: I want to create as many fun events as possible so students can easily find their interests and participate more. I’d also try to make the events accessible to everyone so people can come and make more friends.
How will you make sure students’ voices and concerns are heard?
Miora: I will ensure student voices are heard by setting up CampusGroups surveys and QR codes on fliers so anyone can easily submit their ideas and concerns at any time. I will keep all meeting minutes clear and accessible, so students stay fully informed.
Looking Ahead
Together, the 2026–2027 SGA hopes to strengthen connections between students, campus organizations and college resources. From creating more opportunities to get involved to making sure student concerns reach SGA leadership, each officer brings a unique perspective to the role.
