Dr. Willis has been reappointed to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s Presidential Advisory Board. She previously served as the representative for the state of Washington and now represents Maryland. Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges. |

Dr. Willis was named to the National Advisory Board of CCCSE. CCCSE is a service and research initiative for community and technical colleges interested in improving educational quality through strengthened student engagement and student success. |

Dr. Willis has been appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on Research and Community College Trends and Issues. The commission identifies current and future issues impacting community colleges and assists the association in curating resources to address these issues. |

Minah Woo, vice president of workforce, innovation, and strategic partnerships, was chosen to participate in Leadership Maryland’s Executive Program as a member of the Class of 2025. Woo was one of 53 leaders selected for the statewide professional development program. |

HCC Visual Arts Professor Fahimeh Vahdat was honored with the 2024 Howie Award for Outstanding Visual Artist by the Howard County Arts Council. Howie Awards are presented to those who contribute to the artistic life of Howard County through the arts, arts education, and support of the arts. Vahdat was recognized for her work which focuses on wound healing, human rights, gun violence, domestic violence against women and children, and LGBTQIA+ communities. |

Presented by the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), the national Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at two-year community and technical colleges. HCC won Silver in the Flyer (Single or Series) category for a flyer promoting Ambicione’s Nuestra Herencia gallery exhibition. |

The college earned eight awards in the 2024 NCMPR District 1 Medallion Awards. HCC was among the top three most awarded colleges in the program, earning three gold, four silver, and one bronze award for excellence in publications design, video production, graphic design, social media, and photography. Dragon Media swept the Promotional Video-Long Form category, earning bronze, silver and gold accolades. |
