EMPOWERING THE COMMUNITY THROUGH MENTORSHIP
HCC continues to uplift the community through programs that inspire and empower all ages. Partnering with the Howard County Executive and the Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Baltimore, HCC became the first community college in Maryland to have a Boys & Girls Club located on its campus. Similarly, HCC is excited to support young people who are looking for (or would benefit from) an alternative educational path. Project Elevate is grounded in an asset-based philosophy for justice-involved youth ages 16–21.
SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY THROUGH WORKFORCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACCESS
Howard Community College continues to serve as a hub for opportunity and equity, partnering with Howard County Executive Dr. Calvin Ball to host three job fairs that connected thousands of job seekers, including displaced federal workers—with more than 70 employers. These events provided networking opportunities, resume critiques, and even free professional headshots, helping residents take the next step in their careers.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY AND CULTURE
HCC proudly served as a sponsor and active participant in numerous local events that celebrated and strengthened the fabric of our Howard County community. As Title Sponsor of the Howard County Public Library System’s Battle of the Books, HCC cheered on student readers and brought Dragon Country spirit to one of the county’s most beloved events.
We also supported milestone celebrations, such as the Community Action Council of Howard County’s 50th Anniversary celebration, the Howard County Fair, and Howard County Pride, demonstrating our commitment to equity and civic engagement. HCC showed up in full force at local cultural festivals, including the Festival of India, Korean Festival, and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival, helping foster cross-cultural Understanding.
At the same time, HCC distributed over 3,500 free Chromebooks to students and community members as part of the Maryland Connected Devices Grant aimed at assisting in digital equity and inclusion efforts in Maryland, removing barriers to digital access and academic success. Whether supporting career transitions or educational access, HCC remains deeply committed to uplifting the entire Howard County community.
From the family-friendly fun of Columbia Festival Arts Lakefest Weekend to the environmental focus of Old Ellicott City SpringFest, our sponsorships and outreach efforts reinforce HCC’s role as a champion for education, inclusion, and connection in every corner of our county.
