“Medea” Receives Kennedy Center Honors
For the third time in nine years, HCC’s theatre program was selected to perform at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. HCC’s production of “Medea,” an adaptation from Euripides’ original 431 BC play, served as the opening keynote performance and marked the only performance by a community college at the festival. After the performance, twenty-three students from the college attended a series of workshops and audition opportunities to prepare for a theatre career.

Imagination Stage Inaugural Partnership
HCC’s Horowitz Center was proud to present Imagination Stage’s theatre production, “Mouse on the Move,” designed for ages 1–5. Imagination Stage is a Bethesda-based professional theatre, specializing in productions for young children. “Mouse on the Move” provided a multi-sensory experience in which children received a small suitcase of props that allowed them to help the actors tell the story. The Horowitz Center plans to continue to work with Imagination Stage to offer Howard County families professional theatrical experiences close to home.
“Molasses ‘sweeter da juice’” Exhibition

In celebration of Black History Month, the Horowitz Center presented “Molasses ‘sweeter da juice’” in the Rouse Company Foundation Gallery. It was curated by Baltimore artists Linnea Poole, Chukwudumebi ‘Chuks,’ and Amadi-Emina. The exhibition was a multi-faceted essay of art practices in film, photography, performance, and its depictions of the notions of identity, unpacking the “sweet” yet embedded memories that we live by but also paying tribute throughout our genetic make-up.
