This training is intended for early childhood caregivers and teachers to acquire relevant knowledge and skills to ensure an asthma and allergy safe (Trigger free) childcare environment, identify and manage asthma and allergy emergencies as per the child’s treatment/action plan and OCC COMAR requirement. Successful completion of this training may also qualify Maryland EXCELS participating programs to receive a Maryland EXCELS additional achievement. MSDE Core of Knowledge: 4 hrs HSN. Gain a foundation of information about critical health and safety topics and practice skills designed to meet the proposed Maryland licensing regulation requiring training for all child care providers in basic health and safety areas. Topics include: how to set up and maintain a safe and healthy environment including supervision, safe practices to prevent and reduce injuries, identification and reporting of abuse or neglect, and proper sanitation practices and procedures. MSDE Core of Knowledge: 5 hrs. Health, Safety & Nutrition. 0.5 CEUs.

Remote learning is here to stay! Now more than ever, teachers and caregivers are engaging children with remote learning, and are tasked with helping parents support learning when working one on one with their child outside of the online learning environment. Learn effective methods for engaging children of all ages in various forms of online learning, and supportive strategies for parents. MSDE Core of Knowledge: 2 hrs CD, 1 hr CC, 1 hr CP, 1hr SN. Refunds issued up until 7 days before course start date. 0.5 CEUs.

Gain skills to administer medications safely to children in child care centers and family child care homes, and learn to provide special care arrangements for children with asthma and allergies. This state-approved curriculum addresses Maryland child care licensing requirements and NAEYC standards for program accreditation. Topics include practices and procedures for administering over-the-counter and prescription medications to children, including asthma and allergies medications. Instruction is provided by qualified health professionals. MDSE medication administration handbook provided in class. Core of Knowledge: six clock hrs. HSN. Gain a foundation of information about COVID-19, other infectious diseases and the latest Maryland child care regulations in this timely course taught by a professional nurse educator. You will be introduced to best practices and protocols for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children and staff, protecting your child care site from infection, preventing the spread of COVID 19 with proper sanitation practices and procedures, and handling other childhood illnesses in a child care setting. Credential Boosters are classes that are identified by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) in the staff credential modifications for levels 2, 3, and 4.
