PrEP vs. PEP: What’s the Difference?
You may have heard of PrEP and PEP—but do you know which is which?
🔹 PrEP = Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis
Medication taken before potential exposure to HIV to help prevent infection.
🔹 PEP = Post-Exposure Prophylaxis
Medication taken after a potential exposure to HIV. It should be started as soon as possible, and within 72 hours.
