HCC’s Horowitz Center continues its 2023-2024 season with many theatre, music, and art gallery offerings this spring. For theatre, audiences can enjoy “Mouse on the Move,” April 11-14, and “Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” May 2-5. Music offerings include the HCC Concert series, April 13, 27, and 28, and the HCC student concert, May 5-10. HCC Men's Basketball Team will face the No. 18 seed Florida State College at Jacksonville in the first round of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Illinois on March 18. “I could not be more proud of this team,” said Mike Smelkinson, director of athletics and head men’s basketball coach. HCC and St. John Baptist Church launched a monthly free breakfast distribution to HCC students, extending their shared commitment to limiting the impact of food insecurity on deserving scholars. The Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) has generously awarded a $60K grant that will cover full instructional costs for 17 registered apprentices studying in HCC’s cybersecurity certification program. At a January 27 press conference, HCC announced a collaboration with MakingChange, Inc. to offer free income tax preparation assistance to low-to-moderate income HCC students and Howard County residents. The initiative, set to kick off on designated days in February 2024, provides valuable support during tax season.
