HCC President Daria J. Willis has announced the launch of a women’s flag football program for the college. The program will begin with support from the National Junior College Athletic Association Foundation awarding a $10,000 grant to start the team. “Our intramural flag football league has been a big hit this past year and we are happy to offer the chance for current students to play competitively against other institutions," says HCC athletic director Mike Smelkinson. Howard Community College is honored to welcome Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller to deliver the keynote address at our upcoming commencement exercises. HCC President Daria J. HCC President Dr. Daria J. Willis has announced two major gifts to support construction and programming of the college's Workforce Development and Skilled Trades Center (WDTC), set to break ground this fall. A Columbia-based family and Apple Ford Lincoln of Columbia have committed a combined $1.2 million to the WDTC. HCC’s Horowitz Center continues its 2023-2024 season with many theatre, music, and art gallery offerings this spring. For theatre, audiences can enjoy “Mouse on the Move,” April 11-14, and “Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” May 2-5. Music offerings include the HCC Concert series, April 13, 27, and 28, and the HCC student concert, May 5-10. Art gallery exhibits consist of the Howard County Public School System’s (HCPSS) Junior and Senior Exhibitions. Read more!

HCC Men's Basketball Team will face the No. 18 seed Florida State College at Jacksonville in the first round of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Illinois on March 18. “I could not be more proud of this team,” said Mike Smelkinson, director of athletics and head men’s basketball coach.
