HCC President Daria J. Willis has announced the launch of a women’s flag football program for the college. The program will begin with support from the National Junior College Athletic Association Foundation awarding a $10,000 grant to start the team. “Our intramural flag football league has been a big hit this past year and we are happy to offer the chance for current students to play competitively against other institutions," says HCC athletic director Mike Smelkinson. HCC Men's Basketball Team will face the No. 18 seed Florida State College at Jacksonville in the first round of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Illinois on March 18. “I could not be more proud of this team,” said Mike Smelkinson, director of athletics and head men’s basketball coach.
