Theatre
The Howard Community College (HCC) Horowitz Center is proud to present Imagination Stage’s children’s theatre production, “Mouse on the Move,” in The Rouse Company Foundation Studio Theatre April 11-14. “We’re thrilled to bring Imagination Stage to Howard County,” states Horowitz Center Director Janelle Broderick. “It’s exciting to offer Howard County families this theatrical experience so close to home.”
In “Mouse on the Move,” two adventurous mice are ready to explore the world beyond their tiny mouse hole. They decide to go to the moon since it is cat-free and made entirely of delicious cheese, or so they've heard. In this multi-sensory experience, children receive a small suitcase of props with which they help the actors tell the story. Imagination Stage, a Bethesda-based professional theatre, specializes in theatre for the very young. This interactive 50-minute theatrical experience will delight children ages 1-5. Performances of “Mouse on the Move” are scheduled for April 11, 12, 13, and 14 at 10 a.m. and April 13 and 14 at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission. More information.
The HCC Theatre program presents “Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” May 2-5, directed by Jenny Male, the HCC coordinator of theatre. “I am thrilled to be directing this dynamic musical,” states Male. “We will be featuring a thrilling original rock score for this action-packed, mythical adventure.”
In a musical adaptation of Rick Riordan's bestselling book, teenager Percy Jackson discovers he's a demigod with powers he can't control and monsters on his trail. He then finds himself thrust into a quest to find Zeus' lightning bolt to prevent a war between the Greek gods. Performances occur in Smith Theatre with 7:30 p.m. performances on May 2, 3, and 4 and a 2:30 p.m. matinee on May 5. An opening night reception is planned for Thursday, May 2. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for students, seniors, and the military. More information.
