Career Services Outreach Programs
The Career Services staff is available to provide career programs and workshops in your classroom. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
Choosing a Major/Career with FOCUS-2: This career program will introduce you to the online, career guidance system, FOCUS-2. You will gain information on how to register for your free account, and how to navigate the system to help you with your career decision-making. Specifically, you will learn how various aspects of yourself (interests, personality, skills, values, leisure activities) fit with various career paths.
Writing an Effective Resume/Cover Letter: This workshop provides detailed explanations, as well step-by-step processes, for creating an effective resume and cover letter.
Interviewing Skills: This workshop is intended to review all aspects associated with interviewing (e.g., preparing for an interview, frequently asked questions, follow-up after an interview), as well as tips and strategies to perform your best during the big day.
Career Networking: Researchers suggest that 70-80% of jobs are found through networking. This career program will explore ways to effectively network both in-person, as well as through technology (e.g., LinkedIn).
Resources for Occupational Exploration: This workshop is intended to provide an overview of how to use different online career resources to learn more about occupations (salary, job outlook, education requirements).
Career Decision-Making and Goal Setting: This career program provides tips and strategies for making a career decision (on a job or career), as well as suggestions on how to set, and meet your career goals.
If you are interested in a workshop or program for your class, please complete the online form below and submit it. You will be contacted by a career services staff member regarding your request. Please complete and submit this form at least two weeks (10 business days) prior to the day of your workshop.
