Skilled Building Trades - A.A.S. Degree (Career)
This program offers students who have completed trade-specific training through a Maryland Department of Labor (MDOL)-registered apprenticeship a clear pathway to careers in the licensed skilled trades, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, preparing them with the skills and knowledge needed for success in these high-demand fields. If you have completed, or are in the process of completing, a MDOL-registered apprenticeship in a skilled trades program, including those offered at HCC, you may be eligible to receive academic credit that equals nearly half of an AAS degree in Skilled Building Trades! Students’ registered apprenticeship training will earn them 24 academic credits toward this degree for that prior classroom learning. Students in this program will complete general education requirements and additional technical coursework relevant to the specific building trade of their choice.
To receive academic credit for their registered apprenticeship training, students must choose a specific trade to pursue through an approved registered apprenticeship program and submit a MDOL Certificate of Completion. Students completing an electrical registered apprenticeship program may also receive credit for ELEC-107 (Introduction to Electronic Circuits).
