Radiologic Technologists (RTs) perform diagnostic imaging examinations and are vital members of the healthcare team. Radiologists rely on the skill, accuracy, and clinical judgment of the RT who performs the initial examination to ensure high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
RTs are educated in anatomy, radiographic procedures, patient positioning, equipment operation, radiation protection, and patient care. Given the wide range of imaging technologies used in modern medicine, many RTs pursue post-primary certifications in specialized areas such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Mammography, Quality Management (QM), Bone Densitometry, Cardiac-Interventional (CI) Radiography, Vascular-Interventional (VI) Radiography, Vascular Sonography, and Breast Sonography.
A career in Radiologic Technology offers competitive salaries, strong job stability, and geographic flexibility.
Graduates of HCC’s Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic (X-Ray) Technology are eligible to apply for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination.
Upon completion of the Radiologic Science Program, graduates will be able to:
- Practice as clinically competent, entry-level Radiologic Technologists.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills in healthcare settings.
- Perform professional responsibilities ethically and professionally.
- Demonstrate proficiency in digital imaging.
