Academic Center for Excellence – Writing & English Language Lab (ACE-WELL)
HCC offers many resources to assist students with their pathways to success. Located in Duncan Hall 210, ACE-WELL offers free, walk-in tutoring and language support for multilingual English learners and students enrolled in English, Composition, and Information Literacy (INFO) courses. The space also provides access to computers, printers, and study areas to support independent and collaborative learning.

One-on-One Tutoring:
Free, individualized writing and reading support for students enrolled in ENGL- and INFO- courses. Whether you're brainstorming ideas, drafting an essay, or polishing a final project, our tutors are here to help. Stop in during open hours, no appointment is needed.
Workshops & Skill Building:
Regularly scheduled writing workshops help students strengthen grammar, organization, thesis development, and academic style. Open to all HCC students.
Study Space and Resources:
Use ACE-WELL’s quiet lounge, computers, and printers to work on your writing assignments. Tutors are available if you have any questions.

Language Coaching for Multilingual Students:
Practice pronunciation, grammar, presentation skills, and vocabulary with an MEL coach.
Skill-Focused Sessions:
Coaches offer support tailored to your specific goals—whether you're preparing for a class presentation, improving fluency, or reviewing grammar structures.
Supportive Community Space:
The Study Lounge offers a quiet, welcoming place for multilingual students to work independently.
Integrated Resources:
Language learning tools, handouts, and coaching sessions are available throughout the semester. No appointment is needed, but regular visits are encouraged for skill growth.
