Kelsey couldn't be happier about her choice to attend HCC.
Kelsey was drawn to HCC because of the college’s acclaimed James W. Rouse Scholars program, a selective honors and leadership program designed for students to transfer to four-year institutions at the end of their sophomore year. In addition to providing challenging coursework, leadership development, and cultural and recreational activities, the Rouse Scholars program also provided Kelsey with the opportunity to travel to Ghana to work with local nursing schools and hospitals.
“That trip really opened my eyes to international healthcare,” she said. “I thought to myself, ‘this is something I could really do.’” In addition to going to school full-time, Kelsey stayed involved during her time at HCC by serving as the operations assistant for the Student Programming Board, serving as a peer leader for the Anatomy department, and volunteering for events such as Student Advocacy Day.
After graduating from HCC, Kelsey transferred to Towson University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She got her license and is now working as a registered nurse on the MCU at Howard County General Hospital.
