Jacob

Jacob's pathway to success has led him to the Silas Craft Collegians, STEM Scholars, a study abroad in Ireland, and being recognized on the Dean's List.
Even before starting college, Jacob (Jake) was eager to enter the workforce. He was paying for college himself, and found HCC to be an affordable option where he could try different educational paths to see what fit best. He found himself “really enjoying it,” especially his classes in economics, construction management, and studying abroad in Ireland.
As a Silas Craft Collegian, Jake explored a few areas of study before landing on business management. He was a STEM Scholar before switching to a business program, and was VP of the engineering club and the environmental club. In addition to his studies, Jake is an intern with Whiting-Turner, working on the MGM National Harbor project.
Jake says his greatest accomplishments at HCC have been representing STEM Scholars and Silas Craft Collegians at legislative events, as well as being recognized on the Dean’s List and receiving a Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges award.
After graduation, he plans to transfer to the University of Maryland to earn a four-year degree, then continue on to work for a commercial construction company.
