
Regents Scholarships
FOR COMMUNITY MARYLAND COLLEGE TRANSFER STUDENTS
The Regent Scholars Program was created by the University Systems of Maryland to provide student scholars with financial assistance as they further their education at one of the schools/universities under the university systems. Student could be eligible for full scholarships which could cover up to the cost of their tuition, room, board, books, and academic materials, or partial scholarships that could provide up to $5000 for their educational expenses.
Regents Scholarships & Grants
Kelly- 2 Awards
- Earn a 3.8 Grade Point Average or higher
- Complete a minimum of 56 credits
- Demonstrate financial need by submitting FAFSA
- Pursue any major leading to the bachelor’s degree at any USM institution
Gross - 1 Award
- Earn a 4.0 Grade Point Average
- Complete the Associate’s degree
- Pursue any major leading to the bachelor’s degree at any USM institution
Weinberg for Part-Time Students- 1 Award
- Earn a 4.0 Grade Point Average
- Complete the Associate’s degree
- Pursue any major for the bachelor’s degree at any USM institution on a part-time basis
- Tuition, mandatory fees, small stipend for books & expenses provided
STEPS TO APPLY
- Complete the scholarship application.
- Attach a personal statement of the student’s educational and career goals.
- Attach unofficial or official copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Attach a resume or listing of the student’s extracurricular and community activities.
- Attach no more than two pieces of evidence of a student’s scholarly and creative activities. (ex. Copies of artwork, photos, creative projects, research papers, published materials, honors, awards, etc.)
- Attach one or two letters of recommendation from faculty or staff members at Howard Community College (Make sure they are sealed)
- Submit completed Regents Scholarship Applications along with all required documents to Financial Aid Services by May 31st.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
1. Financial Aid Services will forward all completed applications to the Regents Review Committee for an internal review. A completed application includes the actual applications, and all of the required documentation listed above in the “Steps to Apply” section.
2. HCC will forward students' applications to the Board of Regents to ensure they are received by the July 1st deadline.
SPECIAL NOTES:
* The Kelly Regent Scholarships require a student to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to be considered.
