Do I need to file a document with the IRS?
Yes, all persons present in the US anytime last calendar year must file a tax document with the IRS.
What document do I need to file with the IRS?
Every F1 student is required to file Form 8843. If you earned any income, Form 1040 or 1040NR is also required.
What forms do I need in order to prepare my tax return?
If you worked, you will need your W-2. On-campus workers can find the form in MyHCC. Those employed off-campus should have received the form in the mail.
What is the filing deadline?
Tax forms must be postmarked by April 15.
Where do I mail my tax forms?
If you are NOT including a payment, mail forms to:

How do I complete a Form 8843?
Complete Parts 1 and 3, and sign where indicated. If you are answering Yes to questions 12 or 13, consult an immigration attorney and/or certified tax professional.
Do I need to file Maryland State Taxes?
If you are required to file a 1040NR, you are also required to file a MD State income tax return. Maryland residency requirements are based upon time living in Maryland not upon immigration status. Please consult a tax professional for more information.
