Theater Etiquette
Attending a live performance is a wonderful experience when we're mindful of the impact we have on others. Please consider the following when you attend an event in the Horowitz Center:
- Plan to arrive at least 30-40 minutes prior to the event start time. Parking is free, but during the week, it may be limited while classes are session. The West Parking Garage is the closest parking for the Horowitz Center.
- Turn off and put away all electronic devices prior to entering the theater.
- Refrain from taking photos and videos of the performance unless otherwise noted.
- Keep your feet on the floor as to avoid kicking the seat of the patron in front of you.
- Enjoy refreshments in the lobby and bring only capped water bottles into the venues.
- Respond to the action of the performance naturally. Feedback from the audience in the form of laughter, applause, tears, or the occasional gasp can be encouraging to performers.
- Refrain from comments/conversation with your neighbors that might be distracting to performers and other patrons.
- If you arrive after the event has started, the House Manager will bring you into the venue at the designated late seating times, if it is possible. You may be asked to sit in a different seat than you were assigned in order to cause the least amount of disruption to the performers and audience members.
