ARTIST BIOS
The Morgan State University Choir (MSUC) has performed worldwide, receiving critical acclaim. Named the "Best College Choir" in 2004 by Reader’s Digest magazine, the Choir has collaborated with numerous symphony orchestras, including the Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, National, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. Eric Conway, the Director, has overseen many significant performances during his tenure, including singing at the Rosa Parks Memorial Service in 2004 and performing for President Barack Obama during the Live at the White House Series in 2015. In 2023, the Choir undertook a tour of Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. The MSUC has shared its musical gifts on grand stages across the globe, engaging with numerous dignitaries and celebrated performers, thereby establishing itself as a cultural ambassador for Morgan State University, the City of Baltimore, the State of Maryland, and the United States. Eric Conway is the director of the Morgan State University Choir and the chairperson of Morgan’s Fine and Performing Arts Department. As director, he has traveled extensively worldwide, including performances in Colombia, Brazil, South Africa, the Czech Republic, Cuba, and Australia, among other places. Dr. Conway’s choral achievements include collaborating with some of the greatest conductors of the 20th century, such as Robert Shaw, Sir Neville Marriner, and Donald Neuen. Conway holds a doctoral degree from The Peabody Conservatory, where he studied piano and conducting and was awarded the prestigious Liberace scholarship. When Pope Francis visited the United States in 2015, Conway led the choir that accompanied Aretha Franklin. He also directed the Morgan choir for a nationally televised performance at the White House at the invitation of President Obama. He remains a prominent figure in the choral community!
