ARTIST BIOS
Majolie Tall is a first-semester music major at Howard County Community College. Majolie is a committed vocalist, whose passion for music has been shaped by years of performance, discipline as well as artistic growth. Her musical journey started in middle school as a member of Howard County Honors Choir, continued by her participation in the chamber choir in high school. In her senior year of high school, Majolie was selected as a soloist for the University of Maryland Invitational, a spotlight that showcased her vocal ability and stage presence. She also performed with the University of Delaware Chamber Choir during their fall concert tour, which further expanded her development in collaborative performance.
Majolie’s dedication to the arts earned her the Choral Department Director’s Award and selection for the Maryland All-State Choir. She also had the privilege of singing with her high school chamber choir for the Maryland Board of Education advocating for the importance of arts in education. When not performing, Majolie loves spending her free time watching musicals, a limitless source of inspiration and joy.
Gerardo Perez Lopez (Matthew), born in Washington, D.C., in 2003, is a current Maryland native and HCC music student who has lived in the Howard County area for the majority of his life. Having always been musically curious, he started playing clarinet at the age of 10 up until the end of high school, having played in both the marching band and wind ensemble for River Hill High School. After some time away from music, he decided to get back into it and is now studying jazz guitar with such mentors as Steven Caballero and Dr. Kyle Coughlin. His interests include running, music technology, and reading up on music technology and techniques. After HCC, he intends to pursue a bachelor's degree in music technology at UMBC and an eventual career in the field. His inspirations include Wes Montgomery, Bill Evans, and Jimi Hendrix, and he enjoys genres such as bossa nova, IDM, bebop, swing, blues, and rock, to name a few.
Kaira Ogbue is a Voice and Theatre student here at Howard Community College. This is her third semester as a voice student. She has participated in her fair share of theatre productions like Exit, Pursued By A Bear, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, Eurydice, and Stupid F***ing Bird. She has a strong passion for all things art; she would like to continue her education in hopes of building a career performing in musical theatre and opera. Special thanks to her voice teacher, Dr. Chen, for helping her cultivate her love for singing. She would like to thank her father and siblings, Favour and Kene, for always supporting her. She would also like to thank her mother for always having faith in her and encouraging her to believe in herself.
Ray Flester is currently a student at Howard County Community College where they are studying voice under Dr. Lucy Chen. Ray plans to graduate from HCC with an AA in music and then continue their education by pursuing a degree in Music Therapy. Ray has been singing since they were young, participating in a Broadway and A Capella choir in addition to musical theater troupes throughout middle and high school. During high school, Ray studied voice with Kay Krekow from The American Center for Puccini Studies. Since studying under Dr. Chen at HCC, they have participated in a vocal master class taught by Daniel McGrew. In addition to studying as a voice major, Ray is studying the guitar, drums and piano. Ray has a strong desire to continue to share their passion for music with everyone around them.
