Technology Resources

HCC's Technology Service Center provides service and support to faculty, staff and students in many areas, including logging on to computers, student and staff email, online classes, help with printing problems, software assistance and using myHCC. If we cannot resolve a problem quickly over the telephone, in person or via email, we will assign it to the appropriate Information Technology technician or team.

Password Services.  Students manage their own passwords by using Password Services online. Once you know your HCC Login ID, you can set up a new account by answering a couple of identity questions and a few security questions. You can reset forgotten passwords and renew expired accounts using this online service. Student login accounts expire every six months.

Wireless Internet Access.  Students can access the Internet with their personal wireless devices from many locations on campus. Some of the more popular hotspots include the Cafe on the Quad, the DH Lounge and the Quad lawn. To connect to the wireless network, simply turn on your wireless device, open your browser, and login to the HCCSSTUDENT network using your HCC Login ID and password.

Google Apps for Education. HCC now offers Google Docs for students. Simply visit http://gdocs.howardcc.edu and log in using your HCC login ID and password. Each student receives 1000 GB of storage space! Store your class work here and access it from anywhere with internet access.

Microsoft Office 365. HCC now offers Office 365 (Office 2013 with backward compatibility) for faculty, staff and students.  From your home computer or laptop, just visit this portal site https://portal.office.com. Log in using your HCC email address and password. You can also use Office 365 on the web. If you forget your password or do not remember it, visit Password Services to reset your password.

Loaner Laptops. Students can borrow a Windows laptop for classwork both on campus and at home. See the Laptop Loan Support page for more information on this program.

Giving makes a difference! Your support helps students along their pathways to success.
