The EI offers high-quality English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at an affordable cost with many payment options. All classes include the cost of books unless otherwise noted in the EI Schedule of Classes. Tuition rates are based on establishment of residency: International, In-County, or Out-of-County. Estimated cost for one dependent$3,300 Further explanation of tuition cost: Each EI class is assigned a number of units based on classroom contact hours. EI students enroll in a minimum of 12 units in a semester. The cost per unit is $280 (for Spring and Fall) plus the $80 activity fee, so tuition may exceed $3,440 if a student chooses to enroll in more than 12 units.

The cost may vary if a student chooses to enroll in more than 12 units or if the student enrolls in classes in more than one level.

Financial Aid
EI classes do not qualify for financial aid; however, the EI offers scholarships for returning students. Visit the Student Services page for more information about how to apply for an EI scholarship.

Refund Policy
We understand that sometimes circumstances arise that require students to drop or withdraw from classes. Our refund policy is below. If you have any questions about the refund policy, please contact us.
- Drop before first class begins: 100% refund
- Drop before third class begins: 100% refund of tuition (no refund of fees)
- Drop after third class begins: no refund
