Motorcycle Safety - Rider School

Getting Your License

Getting Your License

If you successfully complete all class sections and pass the tests at the end of your motorcycle safety course, you will receive a Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) Motorcycle Safety Program course completion certificate, which you can submit to the MVA when applying for your license. The certificate is not a motorcycle license and will not prevent you from getting a ticket.

To get your Class "M" license, you must present your certificate to the MVA, complete an application, pay the licensing fee, and pass MVA's vision test. If the Maryland identification number you provide is from a Maryland State ID or Learner's Permit, you must still complete all of the "Rookie Driver" requirements before you can get a license. Those requirements are explained on the MVA's website. Click here to view requirements on the MVA website.
