In all the seasons except summer, Kids on Campus classes are held weekday evenings or weekends and are listed in the quarterly Noncredit Schedule of Classes (For summer, a separate Kids On Campus Schedule of Classes is published and summer listings can be viewed online after they are published in early February of each year.)


For Elementary School Students

Animals Across Maryland

Ages 8-10. Join us on a tour across the diverse habitats found in Maryland and learn about some of the animals that call those environments home. Live animal ambassadors are featured each day. Offered in conjunction with Echoes of Nature Inc.

Campers must provide these supplies (not provided by KOC):Crafting supplies such as scissors, pencils, crayons/markers/colored pencils, construction paper of various colors, paper, glue and tape. PDF’s for printing will be available.

For Middle School Students

Algebra 1 Review

Ages 13+. If you are a rising Algebra II, Geometry, or second-year Algebra I student, this is your chance to cover fundamental concepts to get ready for more difficult applications. Topics include solving one-step, two-step, and multi-step equations and inequalities, identifying, comparing, and contrasting different function families, describing key components of functions, graphing linear equations and inequalities written in different forms, analyzing and interpreting linear regression models, solving systems of equations using three different methods, adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials, and graphing exponential equations. You will need a notebook and graphing calculator. You must have completed an Algebra I course.

Beginning Japanese for Middle School

Ages 11-14.  Konnichiwa! Introduce yourself to this fascinating language with emphasis on the basic grammar, conversational, and reading skills needed for beginners. Topics include vocabulary such as greetings, numbers and dates, question and answer formation, and the present, past and negative forms of verbs. Hiragana is introduced at this level. Enjoy Japanese culture by reviewing traditions of past and present, viewing Japanese art, and much more! Taught by a native speaker.

Beginning Spanish for Middle School
Ages 11-14.   Learning to speak and understand Spanish has never been more fun and exciting! Learn the fundamentals of the language as we  focus on themes of daily life, such as foods, colors, numbers, animals, and body parts. Explore simple grammar and progress to writing basic sentences and pronunciation. Converse and engage in small dialogues as you increase your Spanish vocabulary. Come join us to learn and hablar Español!

Essential Pre-Algebra

Ages 11-14.  This course is for students who will be enrolled in pre-algebra classes (middle school math classes before algebra 1, such as Math 6, 7, and 8).  Students should be in grades 5 – 7.  Topics covered include the real number system, operations of integers, fractions, and decimals, prime factorization, least common multiple, greatest common factor, grouping symbols), translating phrases to mathematical expressions and sentences to mathematical equations, absolute value, and solving simple one-variable equations and applications problems. Offered in cooperation with The Yang Academy.

Preparation for High School Geometry

Ages 12+. Without geometry, life is "pointless." This vital class will give you an idea of the various topics that will be taught in a high school geometry course. Get ready to review the foundations of geometry and expand your geometric reasoning. You will also have a better idea of parallel and perpendicular lines, triangle congruence and similarity, properties of various polygons and shapes, area, perimeter, circumference, and volume. Prerequisite: Algebra I.

We will review how to solve and graph a variety of equations and inequalities, which includes linear and quadratic. Preparation for the SAT

Ages 15+. If you are planning to take the SAT, this updated course will prepare you for both the verbal and math sections. Verbal preparation will ask you to interpret the meanings of relevant words and phrases in context, utilize close reading to increase comprehension, and identify central ideas and themes of a text. The optional essay section will also be covered. Math preparation includes mastery of linear expressions, creating and solving equations, using ratios, percentages and units, problem solving, and data analysis. Students should have completed Algebra II. Test taking tips will be covered. The class simulates a test-taking environment with practice tests and exercises. This course is for high school students.
