
Ophthalmic Technician Assistant Training
Gain the theory and practical skills you need to work as an ophthalmic technician assistant. As an entry-level ophthalmic technician assistant, you will:
- Conduct patient histories
- Assist with eye exams
- Set up and clean up exam rooms
- Provide patient education
After successful completion of training, you will be eligible to register for the mandatory internship associated with course completion.
This course includes an online component, mandatory skills/lab sessions, and 40-hour clinical rotation.
How to Register
In order to register for this class, you must:
- Meet with the division coordinator to show proof of high school diploma/GED (or pass a Math and English assessment test).
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Complete health forms required for patient contact.

This HYBRID course provides both the theory and practical skills education required to work as an Ophthalmic Technician. As an entry level Ophthalmic Technician you will conduct patient histories, assist with eye exams, set up and clean up exam rooms, and provide patient education. This course includes an online component as well as mandatory skills/lab sessions, and 40 hour clinical rotation.
Prerequisites: In order to register for this class you must meet with the division coordinator to show proof of: high school diploma/GED (or pass a Math and English assessment test), you must pass a criminal background check, and complete health forms required for patient contact.
Clinical Internship for Ophthalmic Technician Training. Students spend one week working in an Ophthalmic office.

Please Note: You must take both the Ophthalmic Technician Assistant Training [XH-580] (10.0 CEUs) and Ophthalmic Technician Assistant Clinical [XH-581] (4.0 CEUs) sections to receive a completion certificate. . No refunds seven days before start date. (T)
