Dispensary Technician I and II
In under six months, you can be ready for a new career as a Dispensary Technician. Upon successful completion of this training, you will obtain a college certificate and be well-prepared to seek immediate employment in a state authorized medical cannabis dispensary. This program is 60 hours.
This three-hour course is for anyone who is interested in a brief introduction to cannabis in Maryland, whether you are a medical professional, a patient, or interested in wellness options.

Learn about the use of cannabis as medicine, different delivery methods , proper dosing, safety issues and more. We will provide resources to you on how to become a medical patient and cover the most popular legal topics regarding traveling with your medicine and what to do when confronted by law enforcement. Learn about cannabis in a safe space from experienced Maryland industry experts.
This course will be offered online via Zoom and Canvas. Course information, including a meeting link and login information, will be emailed to registrants within 1 week of the course start date.

There are already over 100 dispensaries in Maryland, and demand for qualified Dispensary Technicians is increasing. This course is the first of two in a series and provides the training you need to work in a medical cannabis dispensary. You will learn an overview of the Dispensary Technician’s role, practice professional skills and responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations, and learn Maryland regulations for dispensary operations including security, inventory management, software types, recordkeeping, and patient management from check-in to check-out, and follow-up. Class sessions are conducted in Zoom and Canvas; you will receive links and instructions one week before the class begins. Register for both XH-244 and XH-245; successful completion of both classes is required to earn the Dispensary Technician certificate. 30 hours, 3.0 CEUs.

This course is the second in a series and is designed to provide occupational training to work in a medical cannabis dispensary. This course focuses on medicinal knowledge, patient care and education aspects of the Dispensary Technician’s role. Topics include: recent research on medicinal cannabis, medicinal properties of cannabis, managing the patient experience, counseling methodology and practices. Class sessions are conducted in Zoom and Canvas; you will receive links and instructions one week before the class begins. Register for both XH-244 and XH-245; successful completion of both classes is required to earn the Dispensary Technician certificate. 30 hours, 3.0 CEUs.
