Courses for Licensed Dental Hygienists
Continuing Education for Dental Hygienists
If you’re a licensed dental hygienist who needs to learn how to administer and monitor nitrous oxide or perform local anesthesia in the clinical setting, then our courses can help you as you prepare for the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment (CDCA) exam.
Enroll in Courses for the Current Term
This course is designed to prepare licensed dental hygienists to perform local anesthesia in the clinical setting and to take the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment (CDCA) exam. You will learn through didactic and laboratory exercises, the fundamentals of local anesthesia administration, pain control concepts, and special considerations.
Participants are required to serve as a clinical partner and complete a written assignment. This course meets the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners (MSBDE) requirements for licensed dental hygienists. In order to prepare you for the practice of local anesthesia administration, participants must complete a written assignment, summarizing basic anatomy and physiology related to local anesthesia administration.
You must register no later than June 5 and email Jasmin Haley at email@example.com to receive detailed assignment instructions. The completed assignment must be submitted on the first day of class June 12. Late registrations will be considered at the discretion of the instructor. Purchase required textbooks from the HCC Bookstore prior to first class: Local Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist 2nd edition.
