This course is designed to prepare licensed dental hygienists to perform local anesthesia in the clinical setting and to take the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment (CDCA) exam. Participants will learn through didactic and laboratory exercises, the fundamentals of local anesthesia administration, pain control concepts, and special considerations.
Participants are required to serve as a clinical partner and complete a written assignment. This course meets the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners (MSBDE) requirements for licensed dental hygienists. In order to prepare participants for the practice of local anesthesia administration, participants must complete a written assignment, summarizing basic anatomy and physiology related to local anesthesia administration.
Late registrations will be considered at the discretion of the instructor. Purchase required textbooks from the HCC Bookstore prior to first class.
