This training is intended for early childhood caregivers and teachers to acquire relevant knowledge and skills to ensure Asthma and Allergy safe (Trigger free) childcare environment, identify and manage Asthma and Allergy emergencies as per the child’s treatment/action plan and OCC COMAR requirement. Successful completion of this training may also qualify Maryland EXCELS participating programs to receive a Maryland EXCELS additional achievement. MSDE Core of Knowledge: 4 hrs HSN. Gain a foundation of information about critical health and safety topics and practice skills designed to meet the proposed Maryland licensing regulation requiring training for all child care providers in basic health and safety areas. You will learn how to set up and maintain a safe and healthy environment. Topics include supervision, safe practices to prevent and reduce injuries, identification and reporting of abuse or neglect, and proper sanitation practices and procedures. No refunds issued. This state-approved curriculum addresses Maryland child care licensing requirements and NAEYC standards for program accreditation. Topics include practices and procedures for administering over-the-counter and prescription medications to children, including asthma and allergies medications. Instruction is provided by qualified health professionals. MDSE medication administration handbook provided in class.
