Howard Community College offers this 40-hour training, which provides a comprehensive overview of conflict resolution and intensive/interactive mediation skills building and satisfies the training requirement for designation by Maryland Circuit Courts as a mediator. Training involves small group discussions and exercises, coached role playing, videos, and lecture. Manual provided. Please bring lunch for Saturday sessions. Instructor Barbara Blake Williams has a private practice and has served as court-appointed mediator for several courts. She holds an M.P.A. in public administration, M.Ed. in counseling, and a J.D. 4.0 CEUs.
How do you help families reorganize themselves amid separation or divorce? How do you help parents who have never married work together to meet their children’s needs? Learn key concepts of family dynamics and relevant legal topics so that you can assist parents in transition. Workshop format includes small group exercises, discussions, simulations, video, and lecture. Successful completion of this 20-hour course satisfies the Child Access Mediation Training requirements under Maryland Judicial Rule 9-205.
