Art and Architecture in The Ancient World
HIST-121 “The Ancient World: Prehistory to the Middle Ages” (3 Credits)
In collaboration with the Study Abroad Association, Dr. Bianchi will bring history to life in a multimedia enhanced course by utilizing virtual tours and videos to explore ancient sites and museums across Italy and Greece. The course will focus on Ancient Rome and students will virtually visit the Pantheon, Coliseum, Roman Forum, Ostia Antica, and Palatine Hill.
Students will also tour some of the most important sites of early Christianity, including the catacombs, early Roman churches, and the Vatican. Students will complete virtual tours of the greatest art museums in the world, including the Vatican Museum, Uffizi Gallery, and Capitoline Museum. Students will take “day trips” to explore the medieval town of Orvieto, Renaissance city of Florence, and ancient sites of Greece.
