The Office of International Education helps globalize the HCC campus through international programs and initiatives. We strive to help the community explore diverse perspectives and global content, gain international experience and global skills, and thrive in an interconnected world by offering study abroad and away programs, globalizing curriculum, coordinating the Global Distinction program, facilitating international faculty travel grants, and developing international partnerships.

Pay for Study Abroad
Learn about HCC’s study abroad scholarships and other funding sources to help pay for your study abroad or away experience.
Apply to Study Abroad
You can apply for a study abroad program by attending an in-person Study Abroad 101 or listen to a Study Abroad 101 online. After you’ve listened to a Study Abroad 101, stop by CL-113 to pick up an application!
If want your studies to have a global focus at HCC, the Global Distinction program is for you! The program includes global courses, language study, study abroad, and international campus activities.

About the International Education Office Staff
Mary Allen – Director
Mary provides direction for the Office of International Education through study abroad program development, faculty training and development, international partnerships, global campus programming, and collaborative curricular internationalization efforts.
Melvin Fatimehin – Program Coordinator
Melvin serves at the International Education study abroad advisor for study abroad programs at HCC. He also assists faculty with the coordination and marketing of study abroad/study away programs.
Lori Cucuzzella – Administrative Assistant
Lori offers administrative support for the International Education Office.

Study Abroad Programs
If you are interested in developing or assisting on a study abroad program, please visit the International Education page on MYHCC. There you will find all the resources you need to start thinking about a program abroad, including the proposal process, guide books, training schedules, and relevant forms.

INSPIRES is a faculty and staff professional development group that gives participants a chance to delve into global/international topics that affect their core work. It’s a great opportunity to join with colleagues to create a project for MAPs or annual plans.
International Faculty Grants and Funding
HCC International Faculty Grants provide opportunities for faculty to work on projects that will begin to or further internationalize their teaching and curriculum. Information regarding applications and deadlines can be found on the International Education page on the MyHCC portal. You can also find a resource listing several external sources of funding for international projects and training on the portal.
