Teacher Education
Teaching: the profession that creates all others.
HCC's Teacher Education instructional area is recognized throughout Maryland for providing high-quality and affordable pathways for students to become teachers.
Degree programs are offered in every teaching category, which include:
- Early Childhood Development/Special Education for Pre-Kindergarten
- Early Childhood Education/Special Education for Pre-K through Grade 3
- Elementary Education/Special Education for Grades 1 through 6
- Secondary Education in a variety of subject areas for Grades 7 through 12.
There is also a professional training program for Maryland Teacher Education certification.
The Early Childhood Development/Special Education AAS career degree prepares students for career-entry into child care, while HCC's associate transfer degrees prepare students for transfer in their declared major to programs at four-year colleges and universities, with the Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees (AATs) for teaching within Maryland. The Associate of Arts (AA) degrees are for teaching outside of MD or students not eligible to complete requirements of the AAT.
