Experience Multimedia in Motion

Few fields are as dynamic and complex as 21st century communications. HCC's Communication & Digital Media department stays on the leading edge of industry trends in electronic media, design, and technology to prepare students for ever-expanding career options in graphics, gaming, simulation design, and media.

When enrolled in our Communications Studies degree, you will be exposed to a variety of disciplines, including the following:

Digital Art

As a digital arts student, you will learn skills such as digital imaging, 3D animation, designing for interactive environments, and motion graphics. You will help create products as varied as electronic installation art, video games, 3D surgical instrument renderings, and flight simulators.

The curriculum strengthens both right brain and left brain thinking to help you graduate with a portfolio demonstrating a range of technical and creative skills.

Television and Radio

An emphasis in television and radio will help you master a wide range of skills, including writing and production, to prepare for transfer and future careers in television, radio, film, and the web. Become immersed in hands-on learning in HCC's state-of-the-art, all-digital facility that includes a television studio, an editing and production classroom/lab, and its own radio station.

Highly skilled students may have the opportunity to showcase their productions on the in-house student television channel and the student-based Internet streaming radio station. Internship opportunities may also be available with regional and national media leaders such as WBAL Television, WJFK Radio, 105.7 The Fan, and Sirius XM.
