SET Seminar: Planetary Atmospheres in our Solar System and Beyond
Join us to learn about planetary atmospheres - Dr. Jared Bell is an astrophysicist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. He received his PhD in Planetary and Space Physics from the University of Michigan. Dr. Bell investigates the physics, chemistry, and energetics of planetary atmospheres both within our solar system and without. Dr. Bell uses numerical models of these atmospheres to perform mathematical/theoretical studies of how these atmospheres evolve and change over time. He has most recently been involved in the NASA Cassini mission to Saturn and the MAVEN mission to Mars. Dr. Bell is also leading the atmospheric modeling team that is part of the upcoming Geospace Dynamics Constellation (GDC) mission that will explore the upper atmosphere of Earth.
