Mara Forciea, Student
As the oldest of 14 children, Mara knows a thing or two about taking care of others. So when her husband, a marine, was transferred to Maryland in 2012, she decided to enroll at HCC and pursue a degree in a medical field she has always admired. When asked how HCC stacks up against her previous educational experiences, she’s quick to praises the professors, adding “they push me to do more to achieve my goals.” While completing her program requirements and attending school activities, Mara managed to become a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and was named the Outstanding Student of 2014-15 for the Health Sciences division. She also received the Lewis Contractors Scholarship through the HCC Educational Foundation. An accomplished artist, several of her prints and ceramic pieces have been featured in student art shows. Mara will graduate this spring with her associate degree in diagnostic medical sonography, and is eager to enter to job force to put all of her education and training to good use.
