Having lived in Howard County for most of his life, Greg Kahlert, present of the Kahlert Foundation, Inc. wants "to support a college that provides great learning opportunities for local students.

"It is extremely important that the U.S. excel in the areas of science, engineering and technology," said Mr. Kahlert. "It all starts with education...75 percent of the students that attend Howard Community College reside in this county, which contributes to economic growth in this area. Obtaining a good education is a fundamental step in securing a good job."

“If we want our community to be strong then there are certain fundamental organizations we need to support.  Education is critical in today’s world and HCC is the pre-eminent educational institution in our community,” says Trevor Garner, M&T Bank’s Regional Banking Manager.

M&T Bank has been supporting HCC students since the early 1980’s; the bank has contributed more than $175k to the HCC Educational Foundation and is recognized as a member of the President’s Circle. Garner also serves on the HCC Educational Foundation Board of Directors, “I want to make sure that any serious student who wants to attend higher education has options at HCC.

HCC Student is Grateful for Support of Silas Craft Collegians Program

"Due to the amount of preparation I have had here at HCC, I am 100% positive that when I leave here I will be more than ready for the next step in my education!" exclaims Noelle Friend, HCC student and Silas Craft Collegian.

Noelle always knew she wanted to work with children, so a dual focus on early childhood education and special education seemed like a great fit. However, when she graduated high school she wondered if she was academically ready for college. “I didn’t have the worst grades in high school, but I definitely didn’t have the best,” she remembers.
