World War II film in which a  young French girl orphaned in a Nazi air attack is befriended by the son of a poor farmer as they try to come to terms with the realities of death. The film was originally shot to be a short, and later extended into a feature film. By that time, Brigitte Fossey (Paulette) had lost her baby teeth, and Georges Poujouly (Michel) had his hair cut to play in We Are All Murderers (1952). So, in many scenes of the movie Paulette has false teeth and Michel is wearing a wig.
