Immerse your creative self! Audition for AC's marvelous not-to-be-missed world premiere of a unique and wonder-full original work!

OPEN AUDITIONS: March 21 & 22, 2019

Say "yes!" to auditioning for Arts Collective's 9th original play! This season, Arts Collective's original play orbits around the astonishing theme of "Wonder!" Under the guidance and direction of S. G. Kramer, the cast and creatives will experience a process rich in collaboration, creation, conception, and involvement (on and off the stage) in developing yet another fully-realized original work... from the ground up! Ignite your imagination! Immerse yourself in a project unlike anything you've ever known!

Casting Info: Auditions are Open to All!

--Current/ past HCC Students, Staff, Faculty & Guest Artists ages 18 and up are invited to audition!
--No Audition Appointment Needed! (See Audition Form info below!)
--Commitment Level: Rehearsals may take place 2 – 5 times a week depending on performer involvement. The number of rehearsals may increase approximately May 1, 2019
--All roles are open and non-paid. (All will be given 2 complimentary tickets for the run of the play.)


Audition Times, Dates & Location:
Thursday, March 21, 6:30 - 9:00pm
Friday, March 22, 6:30 - 9:00pm
Location: HCC’s Horowitz Center HVPA 155 (there will be signage)! Directions, Parking, Building Map: Below!
--No audition appointments; arrive promptly and plan to attend the entire duration. Auditionees arriving after 6:45pm may not be seen.
--Auditionees only need attend one audition.

Other Important Dates:
--First Company Meeting (mandatory): Thursday, April 4, 2019 (through June)
--10 Performances: June 6 - 16, 2019 (Thursdays & Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 2pm & 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm.)
--Cast List: Posted on AC’s website approximately Monday, April 1.

How to Prepare & What to Bring:
--Arrive on time, open-minded, ready to work; plan to stay for the duration of the audition.
--We are devising an original work together, therefore, actors need not study a script/sides prior to the Audition.
--Attire: Wear non-constricting clothing (nothing revealing – you’ll be moving!), hair out of the way, remove loose jewelry.
--Be ready to exhibit Special Skills: dance, singing, dialects, gymnastics, etc. Have a musical instrument? Bring it!
--Bring your Completed Audition Form; Headshot and Resume encouraged.
--Your journal to jot down a few exercises, notes, info.

What to Expect the Day-Of:
--During the Audition, the director will walk everyone through the process, step-by-step.
--Auditionees will be introduced to very basic, fun improv exercises. No improv experience necessary!
--There will be a brief Q&A following each Audition.

The Directors seek folks:
The director is seeking approximately 12 versatile, open-minded actors, storytellers are needed, ages 18 and up (all levels of experience)…
--With the ability to listen, take direction, make adjustments
--Who are comfortable with risk-taking (safely) vocally and physically
--Who have the ability to work independently, within a team, who exhibit a positive attitude
--Who are open to new, non-traditional processes within the theatre, ready to embrace new ideas and opinions... folks who truly enjoy collaborative processes, within an exciting, supportive learning community
--And an amazing crew to make it all happen


About the Director:

sgkS.G. Kramer (Director) is honored to have been Arts Collective’s producing artistic director since its inception in 1994. Over the past three decades Kramer has worked in the Baltimore-Metro area as director, designer and performer. Most recent projects directed include “Clue” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” - both were presented as part of a play reading series produced by AC its partnered organization HoCoPoLitSo. Kramer’s passion: the collaborative processes of bringing original works to life from the ground up – she’s directed each AC original devised work since 2001. She joyfully celebrates Arts Collective’s beautiful integration with Howard Community College’s magical Humanities Department, and the continued gift of working side by side with Tara Hart and the many powerful beyond measure artists on and off the stage. She is over the moon about this new journey… all about wonder!
