About "Accumulated"

This series of works discusses the nature by which experience and memory is accumulated throughout the fleeting moments that make up a lifetime.  Moments punctuated by luminous beauty, or the shadows cast by painful traumas, all amassing to construct a segmented whole that comes to represent an individual’s concept of self.  Acting as visual metaphors, the objects in this exhibition detail the processes by which defining elements are collected, lost, or augmented , lending themselves to the creation of the whole.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio; upon receiving his B.F.A. degree in crafts, with a concentration in glass from Kent State University, Kent Ohio in 2008, Clark DeCapite moved to Miami, Florida in pursuit of his M.F.A. degree in sculpture with a concentration in glass at the University of Miami.

Although formally trained in glass working practices, the artist’s current body of work openly crosses material lines and technical borders through the use of emerging technologies, time based medias, site specific installation as well as re-contextualized traditional materials.
