Jennifer Hudson: Storybook
August 27 – September 23, 2018
Richard B. Talkin Family Art Gallery
Jennifer Hudson is a Maryland based cut paper artist. Jennifer began her career as a watercolor painter with an emphasis on realistic nature scenes and surreal illustrations . Jennifer’s love of the natural world is evident in the use of flora and animals in her work. After graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts in 2014, Jennifer continued to paint, but was intrigued by the world of contemporary paper art. She started to become interested in textile- based work, especially that of paper Jeff Nishinaka and Isabella de Borchgrave.
Self-taught in cut paper art, Jennifer uses an X-acto knife and her imagination to craft delicate works in 2D that display movement, texture and dimension akin to sculpture works. As she continues her exploration, Jennifer strives to create pieces that will demonstrate a finely-honed technique. Continuing motifs are, foxes, wolfs, delicate flowers and lace like structures.
