Whether you’re interested in professional theatre, community theatre or student theatre, the Horowitz Center offers a program for you. Students of HCC’s theatre program are encouraged to audition for roles in HCC Theatre Department productions.  Patrons of the theatre can enjoy professional plays produced by the nation’s only Professional theatre company in residence at a community college, Rep Stage.  In addition, the Horowitz Center partners with local theatre companies, including Red Branch Theatre Company and the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts. These partnerships help to ensure that the joy of live theatre and theatre education is accessible to everyone in the greater Howard County region.

  • Rep Stage
    Rep Stage is the nation’s only professional theatre company in residence at a community college.  Producing four productions each season, the company offers its audiences a variety of evocative programming, often including regional and/or national premieres. Dedicated to theatre education, Rep Stage also offers opportunities for HCC students to engage in the work.
  • HCC Theatre Department Productions
    The award-winning and regionally recognized HCC Theatre Department offers many performance opportunities for students and community members throughout each year, including fall and spring plays and musicals, touring children’s theatre, showcases, and outdoor Shakespeare performances. Led by a professional theatre faculty, students are well-prepared for a future in theatre.

      Red Branch Theatre Company presents a mix of contemporary and family-friendly productions each season. The interaction between music and theatre is the company's foundation and inspiration. HCC students have an opportunity to earn college credit for participation in Red Branch productions.
    • Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts (CCTA)
      CCTA is dedicated to making theatrical experiences available and accessible to as many members of the community as possible with an emphasis on reaching and nurturing children, regardless of gender, race, religion, ability, age, or socioeconomic status.
