COVID-19 Special Funding for Students

student graduating graphic

Over the past year, many students have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and may need assistance to afford college. Howard Community College is helping students to fund their future and pursue their educational goals.

HCC has multiple funding opportunities available to students impacted by the pandemic who are registered at the time of awarding. DACA students, Maryland Dream Act students, undocumented students, international students, high school dual enrollment students, and current students are also eligible.

For the fall 2021 semester, HCC has $4 million in special funding for students, with another $4 million available in spring 2022. To date, Howard Community College has awarded nearly $5.8 million in special funding to 4,480 students to support their college education. In addition, HCC provides more than $1.89 million in scholarships each year.

Fund Your Future

Students who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, registered at the time of awarding, and accepted the college's required aid agreement are considered eligible for the funding. Impact may include loss of personal or family income, increased utility bills, change in childcare, food needs, healthcare needs, change in housing expenses, technology-related expenses, or expenses incurred as a result of the changes to course format and instruction.
