Loan Information

If you are thinking about a loan to pay for your college education, start here.
Federal Direct Loans

Students may request a Federal Direct Student Loan on myHCC Financial Aid Self-Service. Select "Request a New Loan."

Loan adjustment forms are located on myHCC Financial Aid Self-Service. Select the adjustment form under the "Resources" menu.

Parents of dependent students may request a Federal PLUS Loan at on the Department of Education webpage. Click the link below:

The Federal Direct Loan Program provides low-interest loans for students or their parents. Federal regulations require that the student be registered and actively attend (if classes have started) a minimum of six (6) aid-eligible credits.

Note: The lender is the U.S. Department of Education rather than a bank or other financial institution. HCC is required to submit all borrower loan information to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). NSLDS will be accessed by guaranty agencies, lenders and institutions determined by the U.S. Department of Education to be authorized users of the data system.

HCC provides our students with loan repayment assistance and resources through a company named Ascendium. Ascendium is a division of Ascendium Educational Solutions (formerly known as Great Lakes). HCC students can use Ascendium to learn about how to pay for college and how to successfully survive the loan repayment process. Using the resources available through Ascendium can help you avoid falling into default on your student loans. You can get to Ascendium by clicking on this link:

Students who have borrowed a federal Direct Loan at HCC or at a previous institution can view their loan information on the NSLDS website.

This is a loan and will require repayment, and therefore it is important to review the following information carefully before applying:
