Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund

The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund was created to facilitate workforce education opportunities during the COVID-19 global health pandemic. Funding provides tuition and fee scholarships for programs and students who are eligible. Based on your level of need, you may also apply for additional funding to cover costs for textbooks, child care, and transportation. GEER funding must be applied to tuition and fees by December 30, 2021.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • 16 years of age or older
  • No tuition assistance from other sources (employer, Social Security, tuition waiver, etc.)
  • Must be job or career-related coursework from the list below
  • Sign the drug-free pledge
  • Submit statement about how COVID-19 has impacted the student
  • Students must be in good financial standing with the college
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • Must be a Maryland resident

Students applying to a credit program must also meet the following eligibility:

  • Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours
  • Students must have a FAFSA on file with HCC
