RN to BSN Opportunities
Howard Community College's associate degree in Registered Nursing (RN) is designed to facilitate transfer for students to four-year schools for a bachelor of science in a nursing program. HCC’s registered nursing students have two pathways to pursue the bachelor of science degree.
Associate to Bachelor (ATB) Dual Enrollment Programs
Howard Community College has partnerships with two universities, Stevenson University and the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Students admitted and enrolled in clinical RN programs may be eligible to apply for dual enrollment at one of these universities. While working to complete the Associate Degree in Nursing at Howard Community College, admitted dual enrollment students also work towards completing coursework for the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) at one of the partner universities. Information sessions are hosted by each University and held during the spring and fall semesters. Invitations are sent to HCC students enrolled in clinical RN courses.

Many colleges and universities in the state of Maryland offer RN to BSN programs for students interested in this option for academic and professional advancement. Each four-year college or university has its own specific set of additional course requirements that students must complete beyond HCC's RN curriculum. All nursing students interested in transferring to a BSN program are strongly encouraged to see an academic advisor in the Office of Admissions and Advising (RCF-242), as well as an advisor at the receiving institution.
