Animals on Campus Policy - 61.21
Howard Community College (HCC) prohibits bringing animals onto the college’s campus or into campus buildings, with limited exceptions. Service animals who have been trained to perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability are permitted at HCC as documented in college procedure, 50.04.01, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Services. Since emotional support animals are not identified as service animals in accordance with the ADA, they are prohibited from campus. In addition, faculty and staff may be permitted to bring animals onto campus or into campus buildings for instructional or co-curricular instructional purposes with preauthorization from the area vice president or president for areas reporting to the president.
