College Policy Number/Title:
Works that are produced without the use of Howard Community College resources remain the sole property of the creator and no agreement as to the allocation of rights between the creator and the college is necessary. The college will contact the creator to investigate the creation process further if the college has reason to believe that college resources were used. The creator is obligated to cooperate with the college to provide necessary information to allow an accurate determination of intellectual property to be made.
The result of the determination will be captured in an agreement between the college and the creator recognizing the ownership rights of the creator and any rights of the college to use/display the property. The agreement shall be signed by the creator and the appropriate vice president or president. If there is a dispute, the president will be the final decision maker.
