Dragons Win Title in Inaugural Season
HCC’s League of Legends Maroon Team stunned No. 1 seed and undefeated Newberry College to claim the first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Challengers Division championship. The Dragons’ championship team played League of Legends, a multiplayer game and one of the college’s three esports teams — Overwatch and Rocket League are the others. Esports launched in the fall of 2020, and the Dragons compete in the NECC against 30 colleges and universities from NCAA Division I, II, and III athletic conferences, as well as National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) athletic conferences.
Back on the Field
HCC’s lacrosse, soccer, and track and field teams were back in action this spring. Only outdoor sports returned, due to COVID-19. All health protocols are being followed to ensure the safety of players, coaches, and staff.
