Competition Goes Online
While traditional fall athletics have been pushed to the spring semester, HCC has found a new sport that encourages competition from the safety of athletes’ homes — esports. HCC has joined the New England Collegiate Conference, recruiting student-athletes to play multiplayer games Overwatch and League of Legends against both four-year and community college competitors. The team also competed in Hood College’s Rocket League Fall Brawl, taking on such powerhouse teams as UCLA and University of Alabama. For more information about the team, visit howardccdragons.com.
Rings Mark Regional Championship
The global coronavirus pandemic cut the men’s basketball season short, just as the team was poised to head to the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship. But there is still a reason to celebrate. . . the men recently received rings to mark their Division II Region 20 win. The rings showcase the college mascot at the center and give the student athletes reason to smile.
